Welcome! I am a long time Wikipedia reader who has generally only made minor corrections to articles. An attempt to step up my interaction with WP led me to create my account, which is named after a neighborhood in Mumbai that I used to live in. My watchlist is still pretty bare, I mostly only look after the pages of academic institutions that I used to attend (Marin Academy for high school, The New School for my undergraduate work), but find myself looking up all manner of articles on Wikipedia from current events to history and technology to popular culture. I'm looking around for some wikiprojects to join in on, but haven't really committed myself to any so far.

[edit] About Me

I am a 23 year old American journalist working for a business magazine in Mumbai, India. I've been living abroad since September, 2006, after extensive travel over the years. I've visited France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Greece, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico and Turks & Caicos. I have also spent considerable time in the United Kingdom, mostly in London but also in Cambridge and Wales. I was born in San Francisco, California and grew up in the Bay Area. I went to Marin Country Day School and Marin Academy before traveling to New York City to study journalism at The New School in Greenwich Village. At New School I also took classes in subjects like cultural studies, media studies, Latin American history and literature.

[edit] On Wikipedia

So far I haven't contributed heavily to Wikipedia, I suppose I may be categorized as a Wikignome, although I have started to become more active. My watchlist largely consists of subjects that connect to my life, from the various educational institutions that I have attended like Marin Academy (the site of probably the first controversy that I was involved with on WP) to places where I have lived like San Francisco and the East Village. Beyond that, I generally find myself reading and editing articles related to media, internet culture and technology, as well as a smattering of history and philosophy. Since I've moved to India, I've been following more articles related to Indian culture and business. I still stumble with some of the commands and tags on WP, but I'm working on improving my knowledge of codes here. I also have taken an active interest in the Essjay controversy because of my interest in new media as well as my own participation here on Wikipedia. I'll reserve judgment on this talk page, but I have commented extensively on the subject in discussions as well as on a blog that I operate.
