Cuentos De La Frontera is a webcomic by Cayetano Garza. It is hosted on Modern Tales.
It has its roots in Mexican folklore and legend. There's a rich oral storytelling tradition in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas that is being lost as the old generation passes. Cuentos De La Frontera tells a story of a student's going to college in the Rio Grande Valley, spiritual journey sparked by a search for these folktales. The shorter folkstories in 'Cuentos' represent the reclaiming of an heritage for the main character, Felix Jaramillo. Felix will eventually become a faith healer and encounter some of the legends he is studying as a graduate student working on his thesis.
Cuentos De La Frontera, has been featured in articles in news outlets such as Wired, Playboy, The Austin American Statesman, The Austin Chronicle.[citation needed]
