CSELT SPA has been the STET Group's Company for study, research, experimentation and qualification in the field of Telecommunications and Information Technology. CSELT was founded 1964 in Turino, Italy, and had about 1200 employees. CSELT has been a highly respected think tank and has sometimes been called "The Italian Bell Labs". After reorganization of the STET group into Telecom Italia the name of the lab has been changed into Telecom Italia Lab.
