Lahainaluna High School is a school located in Lahaina, Hawaii and was originally a Protestant missionary school built in 1831. It was the first school founded in Hawaii that is still currently standing. A small stream with tilapia runs through the school.
Lahainaluna has a program where students from the islands of Hawaii can live at the school in dormitorys. In return, they work 18 hours a week doing various jobs around the campus. There are two dorms, David Malo and Hoapili one for boys and another for girls. Previously Hoapili dorm housed both sexes.
Twice a year boarders lay a fresh coat of Lime on Mount Ball in the shape of an L. In the L is the year and amount of championships won the previous year. On a clear day, the freshly limed L can be seen on the island of Molokai.
The school celebrates David Malo day annually, a day where a feast is served, students sing, and the dormitorys are open to the public.
