CSA Group is a not-for-profit membership based association serving business, industry, government and consumers. CSA Group consists of four divisions:
-Canadian Standards Association, which develops standards and helps people understand and apply them through information products and training
-CSA International which provides testing and certification services for electrical, mechanical, gas and a variety of other products
-QMI which delivers client-focused management systems registration and training services as North America's leading registrar
-OnSpeX - for consumer product evaluation, data management and advisory services
The CSA develops many of Canada's national standards. In certain cases to protect public safety Canadian laws required certain goods to be certified to CSA standards prior to sale. CSA is also responsible for developing the Canada Electrical Code.
When the CSA mark is shown alone or with a "C" pre-fix, it identifies that the item is certified for sale in Canada; when also showing a "US" mark, the item is also certified for sale in the United States.
