Crystal Warriors is a tactical role-playing video game for the Sega Game Gear handheld system. It was released by Sega in Japan in 1991 and North America in 1992.The animation is by Kugatsuhime, a Japanese video game company. The gameplay is similar to the "Shining Force" series. The unique aspect of this video game is that fire elemental units attack wind elemental units at a greater rate, wind kills water, and water kills fire with Earth presenting a neutral unit with no inherent strengths or Weaknesses, creating a Rock Paper Scissors system.
[edit] Overview
The game follows the adventures of the Princess Iris, who is on a quest to reclaim 4 elemental crystals. The game is played out through a number of episodal, single map battles. In between battles (which cover the actual gameplay) players enter generic towns with identical layouts and occupants. In towns you can gain predictions on what you will face next, buy new equipment and spells and even recruit new followers (as the dead stay dead in this game).
The game also has a very similar style of play to the Fire Emblem line of games.
