[edit] Hemorrhoid

Thank you, Crumb. A perfect solution. I just don't understand why some people refuse to see the difference between professional photos like the one you discretely linked and the one the troll kept adding to the article. Tom Haws July 9, 2005 03:26 (UTC)

[edit] Compr(om)ise

Hi, hope you don't mind me bringing this relatively minor quibble over onto your talk page. Just my pedantry getting the better of me, I suppose :-)

From The Concise Oxford English Dictionary:

comprise v.tr.
  1. include; comprehend.
  2. consist of, be composed of (the book comprises 350 pages).

So, as you can see, it's fairly nonsensical to say that something "is comprised of" its constituent parts. This usage of the passive form probably arises from confusion with "is composed of". Admittedly, this form is increasingly common (so much so that many mistakenly believe the correct form to be incorrect when they see it, as I assume you did when you reverted my edit) but it is still disputed and considered informal (see the Wiktionary page on "comprise"). With that in mind, I favour using the standard English.

However, if you're still not convinced, how about the following compromise: instead of "drukqs is comprised of 30 tracks", we could have "...consists of 30 tracks" or "...is composed of 30 tracks". Both are correct and obviate any debate over the usage of "comprise".

Oh, and by the way, my changing AMG to All Music Guide was for the sake of stylistic consistency, as most of the album pages I'd seen before had it that way, so I didn't consider it "unnecessary". However, now that I've seen that all the other Aphex pages that link to AMG have it formatted as AMG, I suppose it should be left that way.

Well thanks, CapitalLetterBeginning. Very few people actually explain why they make the changes they made. So, I apologize and admit that you were right all along. I try to think that I know good English, and your edits seemed wrong with what I thought was right. I'll move to London this coming year to learn how to properly write in English ;). Thanks. --crumb 16:07, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
Heh, cheers, that's very gracious of you! - CapitalLetterBeginning 11:48, 1 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Animal template

Hi Crumb, I see you moved Britches from the template because you found him hard to look at. Yes, he is that, indeed. I removed the previous one because it was fair use, and I didn't feel we could claim fair use for a template, but this is just to let you know that I'm in the process of looking for a PD image to replace Britches with. It does need to be an image that represents the concerns of the animal liberation movement, but I'll look for one that isn't quite as hard-hitting as Britches. [edit] Digg

The sources for "Potential to easily spread false information" were cited. At the very least please return that section. Also, I don't see any sources cited for the other criticisms. What makes them different? Noclip 02:13, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
