"Crush" (2001) is the second song released by Mandy Moore from her third album Mandy Moore.

[edit] Song Information

The single was released in the summer of 2001 and was a moderate radio hit. The song, like most of Moore's other songs, performed better overseas. The song was the tale of the author's secret one-sided love. "I got crush on you, i hope you feel the way that i do, i get rush when i'm with you, Ooh i got a crush on you..." The song was a follow up to Moore's previous mildly successful song In My Pocket. The song was a huge success in places like Asia and Australia.

It was written and produced by Sheppard & Kenny Gioia.

[edit] The Video

The video was directed by Chris Applebaum and edited by Nabil Mechi. It reached number one video on MTV's TRL on September 10, 2001, Moore's first ever number one. Moore performed the song live on TRL. The video was very surreal, it is a mix between a dream and reality. In the video Moore sits in her "Crush's" room and tries to wake him up. She also performs with her band in another room. The video ends with Moore wearing a replica of Michael Jackson's Thriller coat. And she walks down the hall, she sees her "Crush", she merely smiles. It was a smile of knowing how much she loves him.

[edit] Chart Success

Though an MTV favorite, it never recaptured the popularity of "Candy" or the chart success of "I Wanna Be With You". However it gave Moore a little more respect. The song only made it to the top 30 on the Pop Charts[citation needed]. The song, though not a radio hit, went on to sell over 200,000 copies.
