[edit] History of Crunge

Crunge.org (Crunge) is a defunct IRC network that broke up in February 2007. Crunge was formed in January, 2005 by combining the internet communities ByteRush and Digital Depiction. In April, 2005, Crunge disbanded due to internal issues and later reemerged in May of 2005 with the new name of City-17.us. Crunge's name change was in celebration of the popular PC game Half-Life 2 and a new direction in the network. In August, 2005 City-17.us's servers suffered a major DDoS attack from a linking network. City-17.us's servers were cancelled by its owners and City-17.us was disbanded.

In November, 2005, Crunge was given a new birth with hopes of creating a successful, stable, chat network.
