"Cruel Like Ceres" is an episode of the series Ōban Star-Racers.
Rick recovers from the accident. While racing against Ceres, his muscles seize up and he is unable to control his hands or see clearly. "Molly" notices this, and races to catch up the Arrow 2 to help Rick pilot. After the race is over, Rick is told he can never race again...
[edit] Plot
The next morning after the race with Flint, Molly wakes up to discover that her "rocket seat" (a type of hover cycle) is being taken out of the cockpit of the Arrow II. This is because Rick has now recovered from his accident, and is ready to race again (or so it appears). During practice, Rick suddenly loses control of the racer and is unable to concentrate. Molly senses that something is wrong, but Jordan simply thinks that Rick has invented a new move. Later, Molly learns the reason why Don Wei (her father) was so happy with her and Jordan before: Don Wei had learned ahead of time that Rick had recovered. Molly, feeling unappreciated and unwanted, decides to be by herself in the rain. Later, the race against Ceres is about to begin. During the race, Rick loses control again. Molly is watching the race on a "TV screen" of sorts, and notices that something is very wrong. On her rocket seat, she rushes to the racetrack, and is able to land herself on the Arrow II. She makes her way to the cockpit, and suggests that she steers while Rick works the pedals. Ceres uses his flute to create a hallucination around Molly, but Rick turns on her radio, creating loud music that not only wakes Molly from the hallucination but also distracts Ceres and makes him crash his star racer into a wall. The Earth Team wins the race, but Rick passes out. It is later revealed that the accident with Groor did considerable damage to Rick's nervous system. Specifically, when he enters moments of "violent stress", he loses control of his muscles. Even with Alwas's medical technology, the problem can't be corrected, and Rick becomes depressed when he is told that he can never pilot a Star-Racer again, which leaves only one other person to serve as the Earth Team's pilot.
