I removed this archaic spelling and replaced it with medieval--Adam 14:34, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
Reverted. That is the British English spelling. Please do not remove the British English spelling and insert the American English one. FearÉIREANN

Fault. Medieval is both BrE and AmE spelling. Mediæval is latin. --TVPR 20:21, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
Wrong. BE predominantly uses mediaeval/mediæval. Under WP rules, as the article was written using that form, that form stays. Issue closed. FearÉIREANN\(caint) 20:28, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
Oxford University Press seems to disagree with you. If you search the compact askoxford.com dictionary for "medieval", you get "medieval". If you search for "mediaeval", you're redirected to "medieval". If you search for "mediæval", you get nothing. Also note the Æ is not commonly used in modern English except as a means of "lending an historick touch", and technically represents the sound [æ] (which would be completely out of place in the word "mediaeval" anyhow). Further, as the author to write the mainstay of this article - and thus the first to use the word in any spelling - I would not say your calling upon WP policy regarding keeping of original language form unbiased. I mistakenly started this conversation before doing my research. There is an article here on wikipedia that explains the spelling differences. This article should put it to rest.--Adam 21:10, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
