The Croydon Guardian (with locally-branded editions) is a weekly free local newspaper covering the London Borough of Croydon, South London, and surrounding areas. The newspaper is published once a week, on a Thursday, and is distributed free of charge.

The newspaper is owned by regional newspaper publisher Newsquest Media Group's This is London arm.[1]

The newspaper is not directly connected to the national Guardian but trades under it's name to some extent. The newspapers main rival is the Croydon Advertiser which is also a weekly newspaper sold in the London Borough of Croydon. The strength of the newspaper compared to it's rival is that it's delivered to peoples doors across Croydon (for free) or is stacked at local libraries, while the other is only avaliable at newsagents. Plus another advantage over the competitor is that in most forms it's free (where sold - like newsagents - it's 40p).

There are many sister newspapers surrounding the Croydon Guardian area, such as the:

  • Sutton Guardian [2]
  • Bromley News Shopper [3]
  • Wimbledon Guardian [4]
  • Streatham Guardian [5]
  • Wandsworth Guardian [6]
  • Lewisham News Shopper [7] - For the London Boroughs of Lewisham and Greenwich
