Croxley Green was a railway station located in the town of Croxley to the west of Watford. In 1996 the station was closed and a bridge on the route removed to make room for a road-widening scheme. Since 1991 the branch was allowed to become increasingly run down in appearance and trains were infrequent and scheduled at inconvenient times, a process known as closure by stealth by rail user groups.
However, a proposal to reopen the Croxley Green branch to a point just short of the station and then link it to the nearby Metropolitan Railway Watford branch is under discussion [1]. This would create a through route for Metropolitan Line trains. This station is proposed to be replaced by Ascot Road tube station.
