[edit] Plot

An aspiring beauty queen Danielle Stevens (Yasmine Bleeth) and her overbearing mother Cathy Stevens (Jill Clayburgh) may have resorted to murder to ensure a win in an upcoming pageant. After the murder of a beauty queen, an investigation reveals the suspects to be a former lover, Riley Baxter (George Eads), rival contestant Danielle and Danielle's stage mom,.

This clever film is about the rivalry between two lovely small town beauty queens. Danielle is jealous of Shauna Langley (Cassidy Rae) because Shauna always wins the beauty contests, while Danielle is always a runner-up.

Now someone is trying to kill Shauna, and a lot of suspects arise. First, there's Danielle's mom, who is domineering, then there is Shauna's ex-boyfriend (who is currently dating Danielle), and his stepmom, who he refers to as "stepmonster," and the final suspect is Danielle.

[edit] Trivia

In an interview with Dennis Hensley, Yasmine stated that she delighted in her over-the-top depiction of a crazed beauty queen in the 1997 TV movie Crowned and Dangerous. She smiled and said, "I keep my crown from that film on my desk in a little Lucite box. My little brother tried it once, and I screamed at him, 'Take it off! Take it off!' I get a little nasty about my crown."
