Crossbank

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Crossbank was a hamlet of the parish of Ashton-under-Lyne in the administrative county of Lancashire, England.

The name Crossbank is thought by some to derive from the days of the knights templar when a cross was etched into an earthen bank to denote lands granted to them.[1]

Part of Crossbank was, from 1894, until 1974, merged into the Lees Urban District.

It today forms part of the village of Lees, Greater Manchester in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham.
