Cross Gates railway station serves Cross Gates, an area in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It lies on the York and Selby Lines, operated by Northern Rail 6 km (4.25 miles) east of Leeds

Cross Gates station has two notable quirks. A footbridge linking the two platforms has been closed for over 10 years, yet not removed due to the high costs involved to remove it (the platforms currently linked by walking to the nearby road bridge only 25 yards along). National Rail cannot place a crane to the south of the station as it will not reach the bridge, and they cannot place a crane to the north as the crane would completely block access to the car park of the nearby Crossgates Shopping Centre.

Also, in the past signwriters have been confused as to the correct spelling of Cross Gates, with "Cross Gates" on the westbound platform and "Crossgates" on one sign on the eastbound platform.

[edit] Services

Monday to Saturday daytime there is an half-hourly service to Leeds with most services going beyond towards Bradford Interchange calling at Leeds, Bramley, New Pudsey, Bradford, & Halifax completing the journey at Brighouse nr Huddersfield. This service is sometimes advertised as Wakefield Wesgate although it is not recommended as a route as it seems to go via every Town & City in West Yorkshire. Evenings and Sundays the service is hourly.

Eastbound there is a hourly service to York and Selby respectively during Monday to Saturday daytimes. Evenings and Sundays there is an hourly service to York.
