Crockenhill F.C.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Crockenhill F.C. is a football club based in Crockenhill near Swanley in Kent, England. They were established in 1946 and joined the Kent League in 1968. They were the Kent League champions in 1983 and reached the 4th round of the FA Vase twice in their history. They left the Kent League in 1999. In the 2006-07 season, they are members of the Kent County League Premier Division.

Their most famous former player is Tony Cascarino, whom they sold to Gillingham, reportedly in exchange for a new set of tracksuits and some corrugated iron. Sadly the corrugated iron bit is untrue - the club had plenty of its own at the time!

The home ground, Wested Meadow, is a brilliant throw-back to older times, with a home-built stand set among wonkily-laid terraces and a Victorian turnstile.
