Croagunk (グレッグル, Guregguru^?, Gureggru in original Japanese language versions) are one of the 493 List of Pokémon – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards created by Satoshi Tajiri. The purpose of Croagunk in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.^[1]

The English name Croagunk was confirmed at the 2007 American International Toy Fair in New York City.^[2] Its name is a portmanteau of the words croak and gunk in reference to it being part poison-type. Its Japanese name is a pun on the onomatopoeiae describing a frog's ribbit (ケロケロ, kerokero^?) and something disgusting (ゲロゲロ, gerogero^?).

Croagunk resembles a dark blue bipedal frog, with a white band around its waist area and red and black markings on its hands and feet. Its coloring and poisonous nature suggest that it is based on poison dart frogs. The markings on its body make it look like a Muay Thai fighter. Its cheeks are filled with a poison that runs to its fingers, allowing it to poison opponents by stabbing them. Female Croagunk are slightly smaller than males.

Croagunk and Dokurog are unique in that they are the only combination Poison and Fighting-type Pokémon.

Croagunk and Dokurog are rare Pokémon found only in the Safari Park of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

Croagunk made its first anime appearance in the episode "Gureggru and the Mysterious Gym". It was simply used, but never captured, by Jessie when she posed as a fake gym leader. Later, Brock captures Croagunk. It seems to serve the same purpose his Bonsly did when Brock sees a pretty girl.
