Criticalmuralism

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The process of mural painting that involves community members in the planning, design and production of the mural. Participants are included in discourse that sheds light on pertinent issues and symbolic references that the community believes should be addressed in the design and content of a mural. Lead artists on a critical mural project do not impose their ideas or aesthetic values on the community participants, instead they use insight gained from this process to create the design that depicts the image that community members and artist visualized together.
