Cristie (Cristina Sánchez) is a Spanish flamenco singer. She's a contestant of the reality show Operación Triunfo.

[edit] Biography
Cristina Sanchez was born in Fuengirola on May 31, 1978 in the Málaga. Cristie has two brothers, and grew up in Fuengirola with her father. She is not the only of her family who can sing. Her cousin Anabel Conde has won the national Euro song contest in Spain. Cristie is always happy and sincere. She is a girl full of energy, and of course, talent. At 16 years old she stopped studying and to be dedicated herself to music. She had to work in a clothes stores, but very quickly she formed a group with some friends and began to sing in bars and pubs of Fuengirola.

Her real beginning into showbiz was in a former flamenco band called Cheli 3, in which they made fusions of flamenco, gospel and funky. After this, she joined Caste Huarochiri, another band where she was introduced deeper in the flamenco music and dance. After this arrived from it a place in the band Los Activos, With them, CRISTIE traveled through the settings of the most prominent festivals of our country as The Espárrago, Festimad, The Festival of Autumn of Madrid, The Sea of Music... and even out of our borders coming to act in the Expo of Hannover, the Pop Kom (Germany); and even to the theater Ouro Verde (Sao Paolo / Brazil). In 2002, Cristie managed seven months acting in the Blue Note of Tokyo, epoch of which keeps an indelible memory.
On return to Spain, the prestigious guitarist of classical flamenco José María Elegant asked Cristie to form part of his group, La Maestranza, and to act in the Bienal of Flamenco of Seville. This same month, Cristie presented herself to the castings of Operacion Triunfo, entering the Academy of Artists. When Cristie was voted out after 6 weeks, they started to work together again, which resulted in the release of Puro Teatro in 2004.

[edit] No Quiero Sufrir
As a contestant of Operacion Triunfo (kind of Spain Pop Idol), there was offered the possibility to record a single, with the idea of reaching the goal of 200.000 copies sold. If any of the contestants did so, they would receive a record deal. Cristie, after she was voted off from the show, released his first single called "No quiero sufrir", with the translation "I Want No More Pain". The song was well received from fans, and had good reviews from the critics. But she only reached 76.000 copies, missing the goal. No matter that, she got a recording contract with O'Clock Music, and early next year (2004), she released her first solo album Puro Teatro.

Puro Teatro was the debut album of Cristie, It's a CD with different styles of music, mostlyflamenco, but with a flavour of R&B, Pop and a lot of songs which style in Spain is referred to as Funky . “Puro Theatro” is a song that gives the name to the album. Its name is after a poem of the great Cuban author Alfonso Catalino Curet.
The CD was recorded in Spain (Madrid, and Barcelona) of the hand to de producers Sergio Castillo and Nacho Lesko.
This album by critics was described as Urban-Flamenco or New Flamenco/Nuevo Flamenco. They emphasize the song called “Tonight” produced by Noel Pastor and Dioni Gómez. The Soleá subject is dedicated to her hometown, Fuengirola. In Soleá, Pedro Javier Hermosilla and Mayan Juan collaborate in the track. Other producers that also participitan in the commented disc are Noel Pastor and Dioni Gómez who have worked with artists like Tony Santos, Tony Aguilar and Austin. They have produced two subjects of the album Cambiar and Tonight. First single was Pal Infierno, a flamenco fusion of R&B and Soul.

The first single is called Marbella. The disk has 14 songs, 5 which have been composed by Cristie. The style is very fresh, with use of such genres as Soul, R&B, Salsa, Funky, Ballad, and of course, flamenco.
Marbella Videoclip One of the more luxurious 'beaches' of Marbella, the Ocean Club, was converted into a massive film set, due to filming of the videoclip. A composed team for more than 30 people gave life during an afternoon for Marbella, the first single off Cristie's new album, 'Con la suerte en los tacones', which means 'With the luck in stilettos'. Cristie said: «With this new album I want to express myself as I am, without feeling pressured to be who I'm not».

- Cristie is not the only artist of the family also her cousins like Anabel Conde (2º finalist of eurovision 95) and Cristina Conde (grupo la fiesta)
- The song "Se Que Estas" = "I Know You're There" goes dedicated to her mother who passed away.
- His life is divided beetween Cásares and Fuengirola.
- In spite of the fact that her debut album did not have the success in Spain, Cristie became very popular in Holland, Germany and United Kingdom.
