[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:SolomosSolomouNoitikiAntistasisCom.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:SolomosSolomouNoitikiAntistasisCom.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Image:Turkish soldiers posing with heads of Hellenes massacred.jpg
I removed the speedy tag from Image:Turkish soldiers posing with heads of Hellenes massacred.jpg. The reason you provided is not a valid speedy deletion criteria. Regards, CHAIRBOY (☎) 02:51, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
I received your message. May I go ahead and put this picture in a Second World War related article with a caption like, "US troops shortly before the landing in Normandy?". At one time, Turkish army uniforms had double row of buttons, but not during the Greco-Turkish War (1919-1922). If someone comes up and says, "Hey! Those uniforms are not that war!", it's a valid argument. Cretanforever 13:20, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

- You don't understand. That's not a Speedy delete criteria. The proper thing to do is to fix the caption. If you're still unclear about this, then do this: Read WP:CSD. You nominated the image for Speedy deletion, and I've told you that "I think the caption of the image is wrong" is not a valid speedy delete criteria. Regards, CHAIRBOY (☎) 15:11, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- I think the user who uploaded it should be made to understand that editing in an encyclopedia is a rather conservative exercise, and in the specific case of wikipedia, there are rules to respect as you cite yourself. It's amazing that the image is around since months. I am not the fixer or the headmaster of Kalamata primary school. I will proceed differently. Cheers. Cretanforever 16:28, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Speedy deletion is not a tool for "teaching someone a lesson". Please use care in the future, and use the correct methods for fixing problems - CHAIRBOY (☎) 16:31, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- You read my thought and you caught my words:) I am precisely shunning away from "teaching someone a lesson". Cretanforever 16:41, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar | ||
I just wanted to give you this barnstar, as a symbol of my appreciation for your tireless and prolific work on Turkey-related articles. Khoikhoi 05:45, 8 February 2007 (UTC) |
We may disagree on some things, but I wanted you to know that I am still impressed by your endless contributions. :-) Khoikhoi 05:45, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Zeyrek
Hallo Cretan, I saw that you changed the name of the article about Zeyrek from Zeyrek Camii to Zeyrek Mosque. I don't know whether this is right, since on all the literature which I know about the subject (in english, above all Richard Krautheimer) the scholars call the edifice Zeyrek Camii and not Zeyrek Mosque. This is the same also for all the other Mosques of Istanbul. Ciao, Alex2006 11:56, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Category:Armenian terrorism
I think there is enough material to start a category for Armenian terrorism. It starts with the Ottoman Bank Takeover, then there is the Yıldız Attempt, assassination of Talat Pasha, then diplomats and civilians murdered by ASALA and other Armenian organizations. I want to know what you think about the category.--Doktor Gonzo 14:36, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Tenedos/Bozcaada
Hi Cretanforever, I noticed that you moved Tenedos to Bozcaada (Tenedos) a couple of days ago. The consensus on the talkpage is that the title should be Tenedos, and accordingly I have moved the page back. If you disagree with the page title, could you please start a discussion at Talk:Tenedos? Thanks. --Akhilleus (talk) 05:29, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- There is a widespread agreement, by the way, that Wikipedia should use whatever name is common usage in English, rather than official names. This is both a service to our readers, and avoids the sometimes tricky question of who counts as "official". Our naming policy is at WP:NAME. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 21:39, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
How's life down under PM? It's nice to know that someone worries about Tenedos down there. When the title became Bozcaada, give me a call. Cretanforever 17:40, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image:OttomanCoatOfArms.png
Hi! You quoted the Turkish Wikipedia as the source, however on the Turkish image description page the quoted source is English Wikipedia. I've readded the {{no source}} tag. --Eleassar my talk 11:17, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Dora Bakoyannis
Dear Cretanforever, your edit summary is completely inappropriate:
- Dear Dora! Please distance Tenedos hookers to Gökçeada where they can have fun for some more time. Bugün 18 Mart, sikerim bir taraflarını.
If I'm not mistaken, the last sentence translates "Today, the 18th of March, I will fuck them both ways." What sort of edit summary is that? --Macrakis 19:13, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Your translation is wrong. Set Bozcaada article under the official name of the district. Cretanforever 09:39, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- I see nothing relevant under Bozcaada (district).
- What is the correct translation?
- The English part is not appropriate anyway.
Best, --Macrakis 16:34, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
I won't edit for some time Macrakis. Thanks for writing. I saw that they erased the edit summary anyway. Cretanforever 10:28, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Hiç güleceğim yoktu, çok yaşa emi Cretanforever ama sadece 18 Mart'la yetinmeyelim lütfen :)
What is the funny part? It is a terrible language anyway and shame on you both. Moreover, you cannot translate from Turkish to English 1-1, right? --InterEditor 21:11, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

--[edit] Unspecified source for Image:ErtuğrulOsmanV.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:ErtuğrulOsmanV.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:58, 26 March 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 88.134.140.64 00:58, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Ratings
I noticed that you re-rated a bunch of random articles as top importance after you saw that I re-evaluated Tugba Karademir article. Listen, I am trying to make WPTR as efficient as possible, and that will definitely not help. Pamela Spence is not top-priority for WPTR; Ottoman Empire and Ataturk is. You know this, which makes this even more puzzling. I didn't mean any offense to Ms. Karademir with that rating, it is just that we have an immense workload for such a small number of editors. Please, it is not helping - if I have to spend my time going through importance categories instead of improving articles, that will not help anyone.. I respect your work and consider you a serious editor, so I hope you understand what I am trying to say. cheers Baristarim 03:21, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry that you feel that I was being a "kabadayi" or anything, I just would like to make it easier for any new Wikipedians interested in WPTR to navigate easily and efficiently among articles. Ratings are subjective, however Pamela Spence is not top-priority, you know this :) As for the "start" rating, that is simply a wikipedia-wide article rating system. That article was a stub - if people would like to improve, it will give them the same incentive to improve as much as a "start" rating, right? I really like your work, I didn't mean any disrespect.. Eger istemeden bir yanlisim olmussa ozur dilerim.. take care Baristarim 14:15, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Vehbim 2007 subat yamanlar04.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Vehbim 2007 subat yamanlar04.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:08, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
