[edit] -Inanna-

I see you've discovered my secret interest in her. ;-) I guess secrets don't last that long after all! —Khoikhoi 05:14, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Not necessarily.... And of course she would have interest in Turkey—she lives there! Too bad we can't see her talk page anymore, it had some interesting stuff there. Anyways, if she ever comes back as she occasionally does, I'll let you know. —Khoikhoi 17:52, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Oh, and would you be able to help me out with something? There were two articles about the same village: Karapinar and Macarköy. I redirected the latter into the former, however, I'm trying to find out what province the village lies in. The only external resource I can get is this, and unfortunately I only know a few words of Hungarian. Köszönöm! —Khoikhoi 17:56, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Hehe, no problem. Incidentally, I was just in Foster City yesterday. Thanks for your help, take care. —Khoikhoi 00:09, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Ok, sure! —Khoikhoi 16:37, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Greek and Turkish wikipedians board of cooperation proposal removed

Hello, I'm contacting you to let you know that I have withdrown the proposal for wikiproject Greek and Turkish wikipedians board of cooperation as so much time has passed in inaction, I am no longer interested in it and I don't have any time to spare for it. I regret to take this step unilateraly as there are some 16 people who had showed interest, but the whole thing has been inactive for too long in my opinion. Thanks for showing your initial interest anyway!! Keep up the good wiki-work! --Michalis Famelis (talk) 18:10, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Burgaz-Dedeağaç Doğal Gaz Hattı

Hi, the link you added to Burgas-Alexandroupoli pipeline doesn't seem to exist. Is that because of some spelling mistake or are you planning to create the corresponding article in Turkish soon? Regards, TodorBozhinov 15:28, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] SS Kurtuluş

Hi, triggered with news on the BBC these days, I have been writing an article about SS Kurtuluş and her mission. Shortly before uploading, I discovered your edition. As my version has more details and is a structured one, I intend to replace yours with my version, which contains also parts from your edition. I hope you will agree. Cheers. [edit] Unspecified source for Image:DarioMoreno.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:DarioMoreno.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 19:34, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] An honest question

Cretanforever, I'm curious to know: when Crete became part of Greece in '09, did your family feel "liberated"? —Khoikhoi 19:46, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

I can only imagine. :p Hehe. —Khoikhoi 20:06, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Baslik konusu

I know that this is a sticky subject, but I was thinking of requesting mediation on ¨Pontian Greek Genocide article... Now the main problem is, there has been a huge lack of debate, we are (and others, before I joined, have been) just going around in circles.. What do you think? Baristarim 05:11, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Boyoz

Your posting in WP:ARG is very true. My wife is Judeo Spharadic and she loves them, most of Sephardic Jews in Argentina know them and it is very common in their diets. They are usually made with spinach and cheese fillings, I haven't tried them any other way yet. Regarding the etymology you are correct but the spelling is wrong, "Bollos" is the Spanish word to designate bundles or packs. :) Sebastian Kessel Talk 23:12, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi. In the province of Mendoza there is a type of pastry that has almost no diferences to the image in the article. they are called "tortitas", which means "little cakes", I'll check in the internet and if I find something I'll let you know. —Argentino (talk/cont.) 23:28, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
I am sorry, I could not find any article about tortitas, but lots of webpages where they are mentioned, none of which can be used in WP. I'll see if I am allowed to scan a book from the public library and upload the images, if I am not I don't know what can be done. —Argentino (talk/cont.) 17:34, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Another question

Selam Cretanforever, can you tell me whether the Ceyhan and Seyhan rivers are different or the same? They seem to be different articles on the Turkish Wikipedia (tr:Ceyhan Nehri and tr:Seyhan Nehri), but both of the pages list the former spellings as "Seihan" or "Seihun".

BTW, I've also made a proposal at Talk:Pyramus River. —Khoikhoi 03:19, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Ah, thanks a lot. I've added the link to the Turkish article at the Amu Darya page. Ciao. —Khoikhoi 08:19, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:ZiynetSali.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:ZiynetSali.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 19:07, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

We are the only ones interested in the Cretan affair so we might as well take it over here. You have been supporting NPOV in several occasions (e.g. Pontian Greek genocide) so I believe that you're rational enough to co-operate with me at a friendlier level. I removed my last comment from History of Crete which was an unnecessary overtone that doesn't produce a constructive editing behaviour. There is a source which supports a large muslim Greek community in Crete during the early 19th century, it's in Yale's book p. 134. I had to use an electronic search to finally verify it, but I would have preferred that you found it on your own first, so that you could read what else it says. I will restore your edits that are relevant to the muslim Cretans during 1821. However, the all sources (including Yale) imply that by the end of the 19th century the vast majority of muslims Cretans converted back to Christianity, hence the 30,000 figure by 1880. It is also stated that those muslims were ethnic Greek Cretans who coverted to Islam due to various reasons (keep a Greek administration or enjoy Ottoman rights). Those people therefore can by no means be considered as "Cretan Turks", but as "muslim Cretan Greeks", who returned to Greek Orthodoxy once they got the chance. Hence the term "Cretan Muslims" is much wider than your edits imply, and includes a great deal of ethnic Greeks who converted to Islam and back to Christianity. That's the main reason that I have always wanted to move the article from "Cretan Turks" to "Cretan Moslems". The term "cretan Turks" was explicitely used by Christian Greeks of Crete, and it's anachronistic in our time. Properly speaking "Cretan Turks" are the ancestors of those "Cretan Muslims" who settled in Turkey in 1924, such as yourself maybe. I removed some of your edits that were the result of an Original Research and did not provide a source. Let us try to make edits based on sources and without reverting each other everytime. Regards. Miskin 16:45, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cretan Turks

Who the hell moved Cretan Turks to Cretan Muslems (yes with that spelling)?? Thought you might be interested to know.. Baristarim 20:38, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Urgent! I believe that Miskin and Tzekai are the same user [1] and [2].. He has been trying the same moves for ages.Baristarim 21:05, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Hmm, it seems that I was mistaken.. How long is it going to take before I get used to this place?? :)) Otherwise I hope that you are doing fine.. Baristarim 18:58, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Greco-Turkish relations

Eline sağlık.Kolay gelsin. Mustafa Akalp 13:10, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi Cretanforever. i saw exactly when u added the incident in Greco-Turkish relations:). personally, i would not add it, since i consider it 'minor', compared to events that have happened the past years. but since u editted it, i added the info about other events as well. i think u made a good move in adding such info first place, cause the article is now more informative:). so, about Chios, i reverted u before i saw your messange in Talk:Greco-Turkish relations. as u can see in my edit summary in Chios, i have no problem with other pics added, but not removing the existing ones. btw, Delacroix is much more notable than Lytras... Feel free to re-added it, but without removing Delacroix. Regards Hectorian 22:23, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

I am looking forward to see the new additions there. i think they will be valuable, since they are talking about good events between the two nations (talking about SS Kurtuluş mostly). Cheers Hectorian 22:26, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

It was a big mistake wasn't it? :) Cretanforever

Not sure if i understand well what u mean:/. if u are talking about Chios, it was not a mistake adding another painting, but it was kidda strange removing Delacroix... Hectorian 22:43, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Van cat

Hi Cretanforever! I noticed that you wrote an article on the Van cat at Turkish Wikipedia. Good work! Maybe you would use your knowledge to improve the article here on English Wikipedia. Unfortunately the current version does not mention the differences between what is a Van Cat in Turkey, and what is in US/UK. I don't have much knowledge on the issue, so I don't really dare to write stuff about it myself. But is seems you have the necessary understanding to also include some parts on the origins of the cat, and how the breed is perceived differently in various countries. Bertilvidet 11:05, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, it is scary stuff :p I'll back you up if you go for it. Thank you ne demek? I am honoured that you used my photo! Bertilvidet 13:09, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nusaybin/Nisibis

Would you care to (when you have the time) check-out the discussion at Talk:Nisibis? I'm proposing to move the page to Nusaybin, but there's also some talk about splitting the articles (like Phocaea and Foça). Thanks. —Khoikhoi 08:42, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Donmeh/Donme - Sabbatean article

I reasoned on the discussion part why i am against the moving it to Sabbateans. Can you comment there, it just does not make sense, they are not synonyms and wikipedia can bear another article on Sabbatean/s. Argonit 09:26, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
