I would note that creek means a tidal channel in parts of the United States, as well. For instance, almost all of the narrow passages separating keys in the Florida Keys are known as creeks. I'm not sure about other parts of the U.S., but I think the current opening statement is misleading. -- Donald Albury(Talk) 23:12, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
