Crestwood, Houston, Texas

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Crestwood neighborhood of Houston, Texas, is located just a few miles from downtown, along the north side of Memorial Drive, east of Memorial Park.

It is bounded to the east by Westcott Street, to the north by Arnott Street, and to the west by Crestwood Street. It is just across Memorial Drive from the Glencove neighborhood and Bayou Bend.

The neighborhood was originally built around the time of the construction of the park, in the late 1930s, and was distinguished from nearby developments by larger lots, curbs, and sidewalks. In recent years, many of the original houses have been demolished and replaced by much larger homes.

Famous former residents include George H. W. Bush's son Neil Bush and former Texas Southern University president Priscilla Slade.

A metal sign on the corner of Crestwood and Memorial reading "Crestwood Glencove" marks the neighborhoods.
