Crescent is the title of Japanese rocker/singer Gackt's fourth album. It was released in 2003. Crescent was the second of two conceptually linked albums (the first being the preceding year's MOON) that were also tied into the film Gackt co-starred with Hyde in, titled Moon Child. The album came in a deluxe case, housing two lyric books; one for Crescent and the other for MOON, since the lyric book for MOON' was left out because Gackt wished his audience to "sense the story of MOON first, rather than analyze lyrics. Another printed insert asks fans to remember the story of MOON and to analyze both lyric books for clues to put the story together; the lyrics were also made available on his website.

[edit] Notes

  • "Dybbuk" is Gackt's first opening track to be an actual full song and not a semi-instrumental track with a printed poem in the liner notes. Gackt himself has shed light as to what Dybbuk is, a Demon from Hebrew stories.
  • "オレンジの太陽" [Orenji no Taiyou] is performed as a duet with Hyde, his Moon Child co-star; the song is seen as a send-off for their respective characters within the film.
