Creature House Expression was a vector graphics editor that was developed by Creature House, which was later acquired by Microsoft. Since June 2004, Expression 3.3 is available as a free download from Microsoft; however it has disappeared as of 2007. Luckily, if you have a Windows Live ID, you can still download the product, see links below. Both Windows & Mac OS X versions are available, whereas Linux users can use WINE to install and run the Windows version. The download version also comes with a 200-page PDF manual for new users to get to know the program.

Creature House Expression will be superseded by Microsoft Expression Design, Microsoft's next-generation bitmap and vector graphics software.

[edit] Skeletal stroke

Expression uses a unique technology called skeletal stroke. There have been a few research papers on this technology, including the work of Alex S. C. Hsu and Irene H. H. Lee [1], who are the original developers of Expression. Go to the ACM Portal and search for skeletal stroke to find out more.

Inkscape Wiki also has a section on Expression with brief discussion on skeletal stroke.
