From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Creaton is a village and civil parish in the Daventry district of the county of Northamptonshire in England.
It is about eight miles north west of Northampton. It has a population of about 500. It can boast both a mediaeval Church of England Church with a low stone tower and a brick built United Reformed chapel. There is a large village green with many houses built of the local sandstone. On the edge of the village is 'Highgate House', a conference centre in a former 17th century coaching inn. Hunt meets were frequently held on the Village Green, hunting in the area is now run within the bounds of the current legislation. The village pub is called the Bricklayers Arms and is located on the Welford Road (former A50) which runs along the top of the ridge on which the village stands. Amphylis Twigden, an ancestor of George Washington, was born on the outskirts of the village.
