Crash pad

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A crash pad may refer to either of the following:

  • In climbing, it will refer to a bouldering mat.
  • Padded shorts, to protect the buttocks from injury during falls.
  • Colloquially, it often refers to a house or other dwelling where a person rests. Historically, the term crash pad was hippy slang for a place to sleep listed in an alternative society network of addresses. The term was subsequently used in the punk subculture, particularly in reference to a place where touring bands could stay for free, often called a punk house.
  • In the aviation industry, the term is used for temporary lodging for airline flight crews.
