[edit] History
Arguably the greatest heavy metal band of Korea, Crash was formed in 1991 with lineup of Ahn Heung-Chan (vo, bs), Jung Yong-Wook (dr) and Yun Du-Byung (g). Even before their first album, they became famous in the Korean rock scene with their powerful stage. They were also the first Korean band provoking Slam dance and Stage diving in their concert.
In 1993 they record their debut album Endless supply of the pain with an internationally famous death metal producer Colin Richardson with whom the band will collaborate in their third and fourth album again. Despite apparent similitude to Sepultura sound (of Arise area), the album is regarded as a memorial step of Korean heavy metal history. Endless supply of the pain was a critical and commercial success with more than 80,000 copies sold in 1993. The cover version of Deep Purple classic "Smoke on the Water" is often mistaken as Sepultura's by lots of P2P sites.
The group became famous outside of metal fans when Ahn Heung-Chan provided his infamous death grunt backvocal on two hardcore rap tracks of third album of K-pop superstar Taiji Boys.
After a more death metal oriented second album To be or not to be, original guitarist Yun got fired. Their third album Experimental state of fear(1997), recorded with two new guitarists, was a new step for the band with a more experimental approach. Introduction of the industrial aspect a la Pitchshifter and Fear Factory to their own thrash sound was very successful and this album is still regarded as band's finest release.
Until today Crash released five full-length album. They participated in D.R.I. tribute album We don't need society with a cover version of "Acid rain".
