[edit] History

Crank Radio was formed in March of 1994. The initial lineup of Adam MacGregor (Guitar/Vocals), Andy MacGregor (Bass), and Jeff Gretz (Drums/Vocals) played their first show at Illusions nightclub on August 2, 1994 in Latrobe, PA.

In the beginning of 1995, Andy MacGregor left the band to concentrate on a Pre-Med major at Pitt. Having just recorded and released the first album, Atonal, Asymmetrical...We Must Burn! to a positive public response, Jeff and Adam recruited a new bass player, Chuck Merenda, who had previously played in Latrobe prog-funksters Shoespoon, and quasi-stupidcore heroes Related Failure.

In August of 1995, Crank Radio began the recording of their second album, country at Gamut Productions in Latrobe, PA. It was released in September of 1995.

In 1996, Merenda left the band. Crank Radio once again recruited a new bassist, former Five Minute Steep bassman/singer Chad Gongaware. With Gongaware on board, they recorded IKYS, which was released in February of 1997.

Shortly after recording IKYS, Gongaware and the band parted ways. Their fourth bassist, Steve Moore was with the band until their eventual breakup in February of 1998.
