Cracklin' Rosie

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cracklin' Rosie is a song written and performed by Neil Diamond. Cracklin' Rosie is a type of wine drank by a native American tribe in Canada that Diamond had visited. Apparently the tribe had more men than women. Cracklin' Rosie was the nickname they used for their homemade alcholic brew, which the single men who did not have dates, would sit around the fire and drink together. This was Neil Diamond's first American #1 hit. Two years later he topp the American charts with "Song Sung Blue" and in 1978 with his duet with Barbara Streisand, "You Don't Bring Me Flowers".
