[edit] History

With influences of Ramones, Misfits, Buzzcocks, Pennywise, Green Day and other old school punk and hardcore legends, CPM 22 recorded their first demo tape in 1998. The popularity in Brazilian underground scene led CPM 22 to record the independent album "A Alguns Quilômetros de Lugar Algum" (Some Kilometres From Nowhere). Two years later they figured at Brazilian MTV video-music award in demo clip category with "Anteontem" (the day before yesterday).

In 2001 they signed with the local major Abril Music and released their first mainstream album called "CPM 22" with many hits, such as "Regina, Let's Go", "Tarde de Outubro" (October Afternoon), "O Mundo Dá Voltas" (The World Turns Around), and others, playing in Brazilian radios.

In the end of 2002 they released "Chegou a Hora de Recomecar" (Now's The Time To Start Over). More melodic than the first one, CPM 22 reached the top of the popularity in Brazil with songs like "Desconfio" (I Suspect), "Ontem" (Yesterday), "Não Sei Viver Sem Ter Você" (I Can't Live Without You), "Dias Atrás" (Some Days Ago), "Peter" and "Garota da TV" (TV Girl). Often they are seen in Brazilian television shows, something unbelieavable for a band which recently played in underground of São Paulo. Such popularity led to complains from old-time fans claiming that the band "sold out", forgetting its roots by creating songs to be played on top 40 radios and popular "Sunday TV shows" like Domingão do Faustão and Domingo Legal.

Recently, they made "Inevitável" (Unavoidable), a success music which returns the band to the origin, with heavy rock.
