[edit] History

Though there have been other American Football teams in Coventry in the past the current team started as the Coventry Jaguars in 2003.

They entered the then British Senior League in 2004 into Division 2 South-West as a team of mainly rookies. Though the Jags finished the season without a win they were only shutout once and there were promising signs for the future.

During the offseason the Jags rebranded as the Jets which had NOTHING TO DO WITH JAGUAR CAR PLANT it was purely a rebrand as the club has never had an association with Jaguar/Ford.

In 2005 the Jets signed many new players. The team won every match and won the Division 2 playoffs in a thrilling final against the Kent Exiles. Tony Perkins scored the winning touchdown with a kickoff return minutes from the end. The only points conceded during the regular season were in the final game.

2006 was another brilliant season for the Jets. They again didn't lose a game all season and won the playoffs and promotion to the top tier of British American Football. Along the way they beat every team placed before them, including the Birmingham Bulls. The Jets are the first team from a lower division to beat all four opponents from the Division above them. The Jets have scored more points and conceded less than any other team in the league.
