Talk:Couch potato

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Should discuss in detail:

  • typically or stereotypically couch potatoes are out-of-shape
  • potato crisps and other snack food, beer
  • (maybe) t-shirt

But it might be mentioned that "mouse potato" may be named after the computer mouse, and was formed to be analogous to "couch potato"? --Daniel C. Boyer 18:31, 20 Sep 2003 (UTC)

I first heard the term in 1984, and along with it came a list of the five basic food groups, only two of which I can remember, I think this is critical. The two I remember are, (Kellogg's) Pop Tarts(tm) and toast. I was surprised not to find this information on the Couch Potato Museum site. Shikagonomimi 00:37, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

My impression is that the term refers to the fact that potatoes are round, lumpy, enjoy dark places, and grow in dirt. Pawsplay 20:01, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

I think its fair to give some examples of people that would be considered slobs. Just off the top of my head, Rosie O'Donnell would have to be there. I believe this would be objective and no one would disagree that she perfectly fits the slob features. 24.86.150.22 02:19, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
