[edit] Synopsis

As the crew head for a planet that might hold the key to saving a disease-ravaged Zhaan, Pilot identifies a wormhole in the vicinity. Placing his priorities above Zhaan and the crew, Crichton insists on taking a short detour to check out the wormhole. As Moya draws close, a corkscrew-shaped ship hurtles out of the wormhole and collides with Moya. When the two crews recover, they find that the two ships have fused together in a freakish amalgam. Crichton wakes up face-to-face with two aliens, Pathfinder Neeyala and Officer Kreetago. Their species does not have translator microbes, which makes introductions difficult. However, a DRD injects Neeyala with the microbes. The others reject the microbes, though, because it is not their way.

The fused ships are trapped in a series of wormholes, looping repeatedly. Moya seems to be reacting badly to the collision, her systems dying section by section. Pilot is faring no better. And the entire crew is troubled by visions of a giant fanged serpent that appears randomly around the ships. Even disregarding the calamity at hand, emotions are high. D'Argo is uncertain of his relationship with Chiana, and goes to Aeryn for guidance. Crichton and Rygel accidentally open the last of the cryopods taken from the ice planet. Inside, alive and healthy is a beautiful alien female named Jool. She awakens to find that 22 cycles have passed since she was forcibly put into cryo sleep, and that the two cousins she was traveling with are now dead. The crews can barely maintain a civil front as they work side by side. It is discovered that to separate the ships, one of them must be cast into the wormhole wall and destroyed. Among Neeyala's people, if scientists fail to return from their mission with their ship, their families are all killed, adding particular impetus to Neeayla's insistence that it is her ship that must be saved, with both crews on board. Zhaan is especially distraught by this information. As Moya's protector, she sees this as her ultimate failure.

As the crew prepares to say goodbye to Moya, Crichton intercepts a familiar image transmitting from the Pathfinder ship's records. It is an episode of The Three Stooges, a cleaer sign that Neeyala's people have been there, and he might be able to find a way home.
