Courtois, Missouri

Courtois is an unincorporated community in southwestern Washington County, Missouri. It is located about twenty miles southwest of Potosi and is Part of Belgrade,MO. Its post office is closed and mail now comes from Steelville. The community is named after an unidentified settler, as is a nearby stream, Courtois Creek. According to Ramsay, "The name is locally pronounced and sometimes written as Coataway or Cotoway."
