Courtney Friel

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Courtney Friel (born April 22, 1980) is a Philadelphia native. She was hired by Fox News Channel on February 16, 2007, to replace the departing anchor Kiran Chetry, who went to CNN following a contract dispute.[1] Friel was scheduled to serve as a replacement anchor on Fox & Friends Weekend on February 17-18 and may serve as an anchor on the show in the future.[2] Sean Hannity welcomed Courtney Friel to the Fox News Channel on the evening of her hire when she appeared on Hannity & Colmes to discuss Anna Nicole Smith. Friel joined Greg Kelly and Kelly Wright for her debut on Fox & Friends Weekend, where she served a minimal role, and did not participate in several of the key interviews. Both Alisyn Camerota and Page Hopkins have served as a co-host on the morning show.

Courtney Friel seems like she may be a frequent guest of Hannity & Colmes. After appearing on the program on the night of her hire, February 16, 2007, she appeared on the next episode of Hannity & Colmes on February 19, 2007 for at least 2 segments regarding Britney Spears and Anna Nicole Smith.

Friel is also known for hosting the World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel. She replaced Shana Hiatt as host of WPT for its fourth season. She was also a co-host on GameStop/EB Games's EBtv, however after a three year run left the show with a final goodbye to fans in the March 2007 episode.

She holds a B.A. in political science and a minor in broadcast journalism from San Diego State University. Courtney has previously hosted a variety of programs including E! Entertainment, Nickelodeon and Oxygen. She also appeared in the March 2006 issue of FHM.

She also held an anchor position on WBBJ's evening broadcasts for a short time, around 2003, after spending some time as a reporter.
