Court Fields Community School is located in Wellington, Somerset.

The school teaches students from 11-16 and does not contain a sixth-form college.

Student Voice / School Council

The school has a successful Student Voice programme. This programme allows students of the school to have a greater influence in the running of the school. This includes enhancing the lessons taught to the students, selection of staff, reviewing of policies of the school and sitting in on governor meeting's of the school.

The School Council is also very successful in the school. Students from the school have presented workshops about the School Council to headteacher's conference's including at Plymouth, London, Cheltenham and Chippenham.

The School Council have recently been involved in a whole school uniform consultation. In this, all students of all ages in the school got consulted about what they thought about the uniform. More importantly, how could the uniform be improved. This information was led fed back to the School Council where a summary report was collated. 2 representatives then went from the School Council to a meeting with parents, teachers, governors and the students themselves to decide whether to change the school uniform. As a result of the meeting small changes were made.

Another major project that the School Council have undertaken involved the provision of food for the students both at breaktime and at lunchtime. The manager of Millennium Catering (catering firm working in the school) came in to a meeting to hear students concerns about quality of food, and to hear about how they wish the food to be improved in regard to being more healthy and tasty for the students. These comments were listened to and the manager came back to the School Council to taste new kinds of foods and to report back their comments. This was completed, and improvements to the food provision have improved. Indeed, the subject of school meals (and the quality of them) was highlighted by chef Jamie Oliver.

Both the Student Voice programme and School Council programme continue to grow in the school. With the school holding 2 conferences for students in surrounding schools to come and hear about how Student Voice works in the school.
