County Route 644 is a 1.41 mile long county highway located entirely in Vernon Township in Sussex County, New Jersey, more commonly known as Vernon Crossing Road. It is signed as an east/west route. It connects to County Route 517 at its western terminus, and the Route 94/County Route 515 concurrency at its eastern terminus. The road travels over "The Flats" (a large area of swampland and park). East of the Flats, it crosses the New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway at grade and then travels up a hill to Route 94 and County Route 515.

The road is generally flat and straight, so it has its share of speed related accidents. The speed limit on County Route 644 is 40 mph from County Route 517 to the railroad crossing, and 35 mph from the railroad crosssing to Route 94.
