County Route 623 is a county highway in Ocean County, New Jersey. The highway extends 10.02 miles from Route 166 in Toms River north to CR 526 in Lakewood Township. The highway's southern and extreme northern ends are two lanes, while the middle section (which runs through the Lakewood Industrial Park) is a four lane busy arterial. CR 623 provides an important connection in Ocean County largely due to the recent opening of Interchange 89 on the Garden State Parkway, and also First Energy Park. The highway is largely unsigned; the only county shield to pop up lately is that at Cedarbridge Avenue (CR 528) where the traffic light was upgraded. CR 623 was at one time a considered alignment for the proposed U.S. Route 9 bypass of Lakewood, however with not much support in the 1960s, the proposal didn't go past the planning stages.
