Counter Narcotics Police of Afghanistan

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Counter Narcotics Police of Afghanistan (CNPA) is part of the Afghan Ministry of the Interior. Its officers are trained and mentored by law enforcement officers of the British HM Revenue and Customs.

The United Kingdom established and trained a Mobile Detection Unit within the CNPA, which conducts stop and search operations around Kabul. The UK plans to help expand the CNPA beyond Kabul over 2005.

Up to October 1, 2004, the CNPA had seized a total of 125kg of heroin, 185kg of opium, and over a ton of precursor chemicals, and made 28 arrests.
