Countdown (comic)

Countdown was a British comic book that ran for 58 issues from (issues dates) 20 February 1971 to 25 March 1972, when it became TV Action. The title changed slightly in the course of the run:

• 1-18 Countdown
• 19-45 Countdown The Space-age comic!
• 46-56 Countdown for TV Action!
• 57-58 TV Action in Countdown

Many of the strips were reprinted from TV 21.

Its strips included:

• Captain Scarlet
• Countdown
• Dastardly and Muttley
• Dr. Who
• Fireball XL5
• Joe 90
• Lady Penelope
• The Persuaders!
• The Secret Service
• Stingray
• Thunderbirds
• UFO

The eponymous "Countdown" strip was drawn by John Burns, and not directly based on a TV show, though it did feature a spacecraft based on the "Discovery" from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The pages in each issue were numbered in reverse order with page 1 at the end.
