The Council of the Midlands is a fictional organization in the Sword of Truth fantasy series by Terry Goodkind.

The Council of the Midlands is a loose alliance of nations within the Midlands of the New World. It is made up of several distinct nations that cooperate together for the benefit of all. The Council of the Midlands is given force by the wizards and Confessors who enforce its rules and ensures that small or weak nations are protected by larger or more powerful neighbors. It was first formed to ward off the invasion of Panis Rahl from D'Hara in a common defense. Many of the free lands in the Council of the Midlands held no favor with each other, but they knew then that if they did not fight together, they would die separately, one at a time. The Council of the Midlands is governed by a group called the Central Council of the Midlands.
