Cotorreando
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cotorreando is a daily Spanish language gossip television show that is run by Telemundo since 2000.
Cotorreando was established to be in direct competition with Univision's El Gordo y la Flaca, which had been in production since 1998. It is aired from Miami, Florida. At first shown live at 3pm EST (and shown recorded at the same time on the West coast), the show's producers decided to show it at 12M live on the East coast and recorded on the West coast, where it would also be shown at 12m. The change in time slot was because show producers thought that, by getting their daily dose of gossip at an earlier time, television viewers would be disinterested in watching their rival show.
The show has opened Hispanic show business scandals, and while many entertainers do not oppose the show (many have actually visited the show), others have objected to being interviewed on camera for Cotorreando. Actress Salma Hayek, for example, reacted by answering no! when she was asked by a reporter to send the Cotorreando staff on camera greetings.
One of the original hosts of the show, Graciela Mori, left the show after allegedly feeling animosity towards another show host. After Graciela left, the show was conducted by Esteban Arce, Luisa Fernanda and Mauricio Zeilic but as of late 2006 Esteban has left, leaving only Luisa Fernanda and Mauricio Zeilic as the current hosts.
