COSTEP is an originator and servicer of federal guaranteed student loans in the state of Texas.

The Council for South Texas Economic Progress (COSTEP) was founded in 1972 by former U.S. Senator and Secretary of Treasury Lloyd Bentsen, Jr., and other South Texas political and community leaders, who shared his concern for the economy of the Rio Grande Valley. COSTEP is a non-profit corporation providing financial aid assistance and information to students and families throughout Texas.
COSTEP, in partnership with Texas lending institutions, is an originator and servicer of student loans through the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP).
