Cosmic Scouse

Cosmic Scouse is a term used to refer to the type of music played by Liverpool bands such as The Coral, The Zutons and, arguably, Clinic. The Cosmic Scouse 'sound' is typified by the use of traditional instrumentation to create quite odd, far-out rock music which often draws from retro influences (although it does not always- for example, the first two Coral albums do, but the third does not; The Zutons do, but Clinic do not). Another linking factor is the use of costumes in live performances and photo shoots- Clinic's surgical masks, The Coral's monk robes and The Zuton's zombie kitsch are all good examples of this.
