[edit] Reorganization

Shouldn't this be as core world - lowercase and singular?--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 15:46, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

That would entail splitting out and making multiple pages, as the Star Wars entry is properly Core Worlds. --maru (talk) contribs 18:10, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
Well, then the questions we need to answer are:
  1. Is the term "core worlds" used in sci-fi in general, or only in Star Wars/Star Trek? Cursory glance in Google Print shows that while the term is not very popular, it is used in many other contexts. Google Search for "core worlds"-"Star Wars"-"Star Trek" gives 20,000 hits, enough to merit a generic entry for core worlds, IMHO.
  2. Do we need entries of specific, fictional Core Worlds (Star Wars), Core Worlds (Star Trek) and such? I'd guess that eventually, yes, but article as currently written is about the generic lower case term, not the specific upper term fictional location.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 19:16, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
I think we would eventually need to split out the specific Star Wars and Star Trek locations, and keep the main disambig page (whatever it might be named at that point) at core worlds or core world, but right now there is not enough material to justify splitting everything up. --maru (talk) contribs 20:11, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
True, but considering that 90% of the article is about generic theme, I think that the move as proposed (to noncapitalized version), and removing SW/ST location categories is in order.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 21:41, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
Alright then. I don't feel it is important enough to do myself, but if you do, go ahead. --maru (talk) contribs 22:18, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
Done.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 00:15, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Homeworld

Currently homeplanet redirects here, and homeworld is an article about a computer game, with disambig to here. Should this be changed, and should we have a separate article on homeplanet/world? See also Talk:Homeworld#Homeworld_disambig.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 00:19, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

  • I would say separate articles is a good idea. Home planet and core worlds are two very different concepts. Earth, for example, is not at the core of the galaxy. -LtNOWIS 15:26, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Star Trek

Does Star Trek really have a "Core Worlds" region? Nothing links to Core Worlds (Star Trek) except this page, and Memory Alpha doesn't have any record of the phrase. -LtNOWIS 15:26, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

If MA has no article on this, then most certainly neither should we.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  19:43, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
