Cory Redding (born November 15, 1980 in Houston, Texas) is an American football player who currently plays defensive end and defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions. He has been on the team since 2003. He played college football for the University of Texas and high school footbal at North Shore High School, where he was named as the USA Today defensive player of the year at the beginning of his senior year. Redding is very invovled in numerous charities. Redding Excelled in track, winning the state Class 5A title in the discus as a junior and senior (career best toss of 193’9”).

Redding was drafted in the 3rd Round 66th Overall in the 2003 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. Redding his a very versalite Defensive Lineman playing both Defensive End and Defensive Tackle throughout his career. Redding had an oustanding 06 season with injury plaged lions defense.

On February 22, 2007 the Lions placed the Franchise Tag on him.
