The original Corvallis High School was built in 1910.[1] This building burned in 1935.[1]

The second Corvallis High School building, an Art Deco structure constructed in 1936 by the Works Progress Administration, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. [2] In 2005, however, the historic building was demolished to make room for a new Corvallis High School building, and thus it was removed from the register. [3] [4]

Theatre department

CHS also has a theatre department headed by Erin Walcon. There have been several shows and assemblies inside the CHS auditorium, one of the most expensive school auditoriums in the state. The CHS auditorium is the largest school auditorium in the state of Oregon. The first production to be shown in the auditorium was a student created piece entitled "Rootbound and Rootless". The piece was shown four times in the winter of 2005. Other acts performed on the stage include Peter Pan, The Spitfire Grill, The Nutcracker, and several CHS Choir and Band concerts. Other theatrical productions have included several improv troupes and plays such as A Servant of Two Masters. While the auditorium is commonly the area inside the wing that receives the most attention there are many technological wonders and scene designs.CHS in 2007 started to employ others and has had performances Dar Williams, Neal Gladstone & Company, Do Jump, the BYU Young Ambassadors, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
