Correllian Nativist Church

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Correllian Nativist Church is a Wiccan Tradition. Started as a small tradition in IL, the governing people felt that they could do more for the Wiccan community by expanding beyond a coven model and creating a church. The Correllian Nativist Church International is headquartered in Albany NY.

The original basis for its teachings came from the High-Correll family who claim roots in both Cherokee spiritual customs and Scottish Traditional Witchcraft. The real surge in membership came in the 1990s as the teachings were made available through the internet.

The Correllian Nativist Church International, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) church and public charity organized exclusively for one or more of the tax exempt purposes as specified in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Administration and operation of the Church and its subordinate organizations is governed by the Board of Directors in accordance with established policy and application law.

In addition to the Board of Directors, there is the First Priesthood, Council of Elders, and the Witan Council.

The First Priest and First Priestess have charge of and supervision over the religious and spiritual affairs of the Church. They are jointly responsible for: maintaining the sanctity of the Correllian Nativist Church, for making Church policy recommendations to the Board of Directors and enforcing established policy, for overseeing the religious programs and services of the Church, and for officiating Church-wide rituals and ceremonies.

The Council of Elders is an advisory body comprised of senior members of the Clergy and others appointed for their knowledge and experience to advise the Church's Board of Directors and First Priesthood on matters of Church policy and administration.

The Witan Council is an advisory body that assists and supports the Board of Directors, First Priesthood, and other Church bodies. The Witan Council provides advice, assistance, and opinions to the Board of Directors and may at times hold live meetings or be asked to vote on programs and initiatives of importance to the Church.

Today, the Correllians have Shrines and Temples in countries around the world including the USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Denmark, Sweden, Uruguay, Mexico, Belgium, Argentina, and Spain, along with individual members in these and many other places, such as Peru, Brazil, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Correllian Wicca may be studied in person at a Shrine or Temple, or through the newly founded New Aeon College and Seminary.
